Levend Lichtje

Tastbaar Licht

Tastbaar Licht translates to Tangible Light. This artwork was created in 2011 and became an inspiration for the Wisp Lights. It was a temporary glass fiber and wood installation in a church bell tower. It measured five meters high, two meters deep and wide. The installation ran between 2011 and 2012.

Churches are very dark, especially the 800+ years old ones like this church. Not much light is entering, it's a fort and a hiding place in times of danger. But light is a metaphor for hope and for belief. 'Seeing the light', 'to wish upon a star', 'light in the darkness'. To me, a dark church is stange. I wanted light. Not just any vague light like a vague hope. Realer then real light, light you could touch.
